Sterling Silver Nielloware from Thailand when it was Siam. Niello is a type of decorative metalwork that uses black mixture to fill engraved designs on Sterling Silver. Mid 20th century Thai mythology etched cigarette case, powder compact and mirror with powder puff, pill box, and money clip. Cigarette case features a scene with dragon boat and a temple or palace. The compact features a 3 headed elephant, which is a symbol of Erawan, a mythological elephant in Thai and Hindu mythology. Erawan is a significant symbol representing the kingdom and royalty. The pill box features gods and godess from the Sanskrit epic Ramayana, Mekkala- the godess of lightening and Ramasura- the demon of thunder. All sterling silver and all in great condition. This was a gift from PHRA RAJADHARM NIDES- Vice President, House of The Peoples' Representatives in Bankok, Thailand. Cigarette case comes in original case and compact comes in original box.
